This immersive course combines the leadership foundation of Certified Agile Leader® 1 (CAL 1) with the enterprise transformation capabilities of the Certified VMO Practitioner® (CVP). It begins with the changing context for Agile leadership, including the mindsets, behaviors, and cultural conditions needed to lead through complexity and continuous change. It then expands the focus from Agile teams to the enterprise system through which strategy becomes action.
At the center of the course is the Product Operating Model, which connects strategy, portfolios, value streams, products, and durable teams. Participants explore how the Agile VMO® can evolve beyond traditional project oversight to become an enterprise leadership capability that aligns investment and capacity, improves portfolio flow, and enables faster, evidence-based decisions.
The course develops these capabilities through three interconnected pillars:
Lean Portfolio Management
Connect strategy with investment, capacity, and delivery. Learn how to prioritize competing demands, fund products and durable teams, manage portfolio flow, and continually redirect resources toward measurable customer and business outcomes.
Adaptive Governance
Replace episodic planning and rigid controls with clear decision rights, enabling guardrails, rapid feedback, and continuous adjustment. Learn to manage risk and accountability without unnecessarily slowing the flow of value.
Responsible AI
Use AI to improve insight, learning, and decision-making while preserving human judgment and accountable ownership. Explore the leadership guardrails required to address transparency, fairness, safety, and trust as AI becomes embedded in portfolios, products, and teams.
